Infrastructure + Impact Spotlight: Welcome to Morgan County, IL
Meet Our New Community Impact Partners

We are excited to announce the first group of community partners in Morgan County, Illinois, home of our Prairie Creek Solar project.
These partnerships build on the foundation set in 2021, when we announced our first power purchase agreement partnership--one of the country’s largest--with a groundbreaking strategy to fund investments that bolster the community, environmental, and social impact over the lifecycle of solar energy projects. As part of that agreement, Sol Systems (Sol) committed to engaging with and investing in organizations that are trusted in their communities to implement initiatives that are tailored to specifically benefit under-invested communities and enable their participation in building America’s energy future.
Since then, we have funded multiple organizations in both rural and urban communities across the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Appalachia, and Washington D.C. The funding empowered these communities to provide energy efficiency and home repair programs, solar-plus-storage community resilience hubs, foundational job training, education, and wrap-around support service. Sustained by the successes and lessons learned to date, as our solar projects become commercially operational, we focus on investing in the communities where our projects are based. In Morgan County, Illinois, we are proud to partner with local groups that share our commitment to community focusing on resilience and sustainable growth.
Partner Spotlight: Greening Youth Foundation

Greening Youth Foundation (GYF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster environmental stewardship in youth and young adults—connecting them to nature-based learning and careers in conservation. Since its founding in 2007, GYF has impacted more than 25,000 youth globally through programs in environmental education, conservation, and renewable energy.
In 2024, the InternXL Program placed eight interns at six National Park Service (NPS) sites, providing hands-on experience in historical interpretation, environmental research, exhibit design, and visitor services. In partnership with the USDA Forest Service Resource Assistants Program, GYF helped 20 participants obtain Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) into the Forest Service, expanding career pathways in conservation and public service. The Urban Forestry (UFOR) Program which seeks to foster workforce development and enhance urban green spaces in under-invested neighborhoods trained 28 participants across three cohorts, achieving a 96.4% completion rate with eight graduates securing fulltime jobs. Collectively, they serviced 956 trees, spread 775 buckets of mulch, and restored 5.4 acres of greenspace, strengthening urban forestry efforts in frontline communities.
Together, GYF interns contributed 127,024 hours to conservation and environmental education, reinforcing its mission to cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable workforce.
As part of Sol Systems’ Sustainability Taskforce Speaker Series, the Greening Youth Foundation team led by Shatiba Bradley, Chief Operating Officer and Renee Alston-Maisonet, Chief Development Officer North America joined us to celebrate Earth Month. The team highlighted their focus on designing inclusive pathways to greater wellbeing and opportunity for all and recruiting youth and young adults to contribute and lead in the effort to build a greener world that ensures benefits for all communities.
GYF’s mission also emphasizes wraparound support as a key component in community impact programs designed to create positive long-term socio-economic benefits. Their drive to promote and sustain positive environmental and societal impact in communities aligns strongly with Sol Systems’ infrastructure + impact strategy. Sol Systems looks forward to partnering with and promoting organizations with similar organizational impact goals within the communities where our projects are located.
